It’s already Tuesday, and right now I’m sitting in my room just listening to a korean online lesson while drinking orange juice. Class today was fun, since I had listening-class (only on Tuesdays and Thursdays). Our usual teacher for that class was sick, so one of the few male teachers stepped in for her, he was so funny! For the last 10 minutes of the class, he made us all play this fun korean game called “sam-yuk-gu”, which translates to “three-six-nine”. We’re all supposed to count one by one (in korean), but not say anything and just clap when you get to a number that has 3, 6 or 9 in it. Slightly complicated and difficult, but so fun :D
This is my classroom viewed from my perspective in class haha. The classrooms are quite small, so for each class there are around 12 students or so.
On Saturday I was gonna take the subway to meet some friends in Myeongdong, and as I was waiting for the subway to come, suddenly a stranger (korean guy) came to talk to me…
Him: "do you know where Hapjeong is?"
me: "uhhmmm… I’m not really sure.." and I was wondering why he would ask the foreigner about it, when there were so many koreans there.. I mean, obviously a korean person would know the answer to that question much better than a foreigner haha..
him: "actually, I just wanted to talk to you because I have an interest for you."
me: "oh… ok…" It was slightly awkward to put it that way!
And then he proceeded to ask all kinds of things about me, and I just answered him shortly and wished for my subway train to arrive soon.. The funny thing is that when my subway train finally came, he said "my train is the other way, it was nice to meet you!" -so he did know where Hapjeong was afterall, huh?
Ah, yesterday I went to eat lunch with some of my classmates and a friend of one of the girls. The purpose was to introduce me to my language-exchange friend whom I’ll be teaching english to (and who will be teaching korean to me)! He was so friendly and nice, I’m really looking forwards to when we start our language-exchange thing. I’m actually meeting him and some of my classmates on Saturday, just do hang out together. I think he mentioned bowling..? it’ll be interesting to see!
"Patbingsu" that all of us ate together - it’s a bowl of shaved ice, fruits, beans (sounds strange but it’s yummy) together with a tower of ice cream :D
This is something I’ve seen being served a lot in coffee shops recently, so I just had to try it once. Warm bread with cinnamon and caramel sauce, with a calorie-bomb on top of it (also known as cream haha). An interesting combination, but it actually tasted quite good!
